Resilient Unit Commitment for Day-Ahead Market Considering Probabilistic Impacts of Hurricanes

In the face of extreme events, e.g., hurricanes, transmission systems, especially lines, are affected across time and space. To mitigate these impacts on day-ahead market from a probabilistic perspective, resilient unit commitment (UC) problem is formulated as two-stage distributionally robust optimization (DR&RO) problem. first stage, commitment, energy, reserves generators pre-scheduled to minimize operational cost, responding worst load forecasting line failure scenario in operating day. The status lines depicted by novel uncertainty set with chance constraint considering repair failed lines. This reformulated its deterministic equivalence. Using both shedding generation curtailment, recourse problems second stage time-varying DR&RO solved using hybrid Benders decomposition column-and-constraint scheme. Simulations conducted modified IEEE reliability test system (RTS) two-area RTS-96 under hurricanes. Results verify effectiveness proposed method, comparison prevalent stochastic methods.
